About Sukyo Mahikari
Sukyo Mahikari is a nonprofit spiritual and community service organization with centers in more than 70 countries. Founded in 1959, Sukyo Mahikari’s current membership of close to one million represents diverse fields, including the sciences, medicine, education, and the arts and humanities.
Sukyo Mahikari teaches the transmission of light energy that purifies the spiritual aspect of people and all things.
The purpose of Sukyo Mahikari is to foster the ability in people to develop a world of true peace by understanding and practicing the universal principles in all aspects of life.
Sukyo Mahikari works together with scientists, medical professionals, educators, people working to support the environment, and businessmen and women in society to assist them in their efforts to incorporate spirituality in their fields. Dignitaries such as ambassadors, politicians, university professors, and artists regularly attend Sukyo Mahikari events.
Since 1989, Sukyo Mahikari has given regular talks at the United Nations. In 2000, Sukyo Mahikari was one of the co-sponsors of the United Nations Millennium Summit for Religious and Spiritual Leaders.
In April 1999, Sukyo Mahikari opened the Hikaru Memorial Museum in Japan, featuring displays on natural history, the history of civilizations, and rotating art exhibits. A Hokusai print from the museum’s collection was on loan for display at the Smithsonian Museum’s Sackler Gallery in Washington, D.C.
